When the Storm Rages

As the days turned to weeks, I faced a battle I never imagined fighting. The physical struggle was undeniable: hair falling in clumps into my hands, energy slipping away like sand through my fingers, appetite vanishing until the mere thought of food turned my stomach. My body weakened, my strength depleted. The mirror reflected a face I didn’t recognize, but the ache in my soul was far deeper.

It is in these moments, in the midst of despair, that the enemy loves to whisper lies into our hearts. I want you to know that these words are not the truth. The enemy seeks to isolate us in our suffering, to turn our eyes away from the One who holds us when we cannot hold ourselves.

But here is the truth: God sees you. God loves you. God will carry you.

When Your Strength is Gone, Lean on His

I remember feeling utterly helpless—the kind of helpless that makes you wonder how you’ll ever get out of bed again. Maybe you’ve been there, too. Days when you feel like you can’t fight anymore. And that’s okay, because our God specializes in being strong when we are weak.

2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Sister, you don’t have to carry this burden on your own. Let His strength be your strength. When you are too weak to take the next step, let Him carry you.

Isaiah 40:29 promises, “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” When the chemo steals your energy, when the treatments leave you too tired to pray, know that even your groans and tears are precious to God. Romans 8:26 tells us that when we don’t have the words to pray, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us. You are never alone.

The Loss of Hair, but Not Your Identity

One of the hardest parts for me was watching my hair fall out. As women, we often see our hair as part of who we are. Losing it felt like losing a piece of myself, a visible reminder of the battle I was facing. Maybe you feel that, too. Hear me—your beauty, your worth, and your identity are not found in your hair, your body, or how healthy you feel.

Your identity is found in Christ alone. 1 Peter 3:3-4 says, “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment…rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” You are beautiful because you are His. You are loved because you belong to Him. Nothing—not cancer, not chemo, not even a changing appearance—can take that away.

When You’re Tempted to Lose Hope

On the darkest days, when the enemy tries to convince you to give up, remember this: the God of the universe fights for you. Exodus 14:14 says, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Let Him be your warrior. Let Him fight on your behalf when you feel like you can’t go on.

Hold onto hope, even if it feels like a fragile thread. Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Even in the struggle, there is mercy for today and hope for tomorrow.

A Prayer Over You

I know this journey is hard and sometimes the nights feel endless. But let me pray over you today!

Heavenly Father, I lift up my sisters who are fighting the battle of cancer. Lord, You see their pain, their fear, their exhaustion. I ask that You wrap them in Your loving arms and remind them that they are not alone. Father, be their strength when they have none, their peace in the middle of the storm, and their hope when they feel lost. Remind them that You are their healer, their provider, and their ever-present help in time of need (Psalm 46:1). Fill their hearts with Your love, comfort their souls, and renew their weary spirits. May they feel Your presence in every moment, and may Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). In Jesus' name, Amen.

This journey is not the end of your story. God is with you, and He is working even in this season. Lean on Him, trust Him, and let His love carry you through. You are stronger than you know because the God of all strength is holding you up.
